NEW YORK — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not among the world leaders scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of next week’s United Nations General Assembly in New York, according to a US official cited by The Times of Israel.
The official said Trump is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings on Tuesday with the leaders of Britain, Mexico and Japan before returning to Washington for a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Netanyahu, meanwhile, is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on Thursday and is expected to remain in New York for only about a day.
Given the leaders’ tight schedules, there is little prospect of Trump and Netanyahu holding a separate meeting during the UN gathering, according to the official.
The UN General Assembly’s annual high-level session will bring together world leaders in New York for discussions on major international issues.
