U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that a planned military strike on Iran has been temporarily suspended following direct appeals from Gulf leaders seeking to prevent a wider regional conflict.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan urged the United States to delay military action while “important discussions” with Tehran remain ongoing.

According to Trump, the diplomatic efforts are aimed at ensuring Iran does not develop nuclear weapons through a potential negotiated agreement. However, he warned that Washington remains prepared for a “full-scale major military operation” if talks collapse, adding that senior U.S. military officials have been instructed to stay ready.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, where fears of a broader confrontation involving Iran and the United States have intensified in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, diplomatic activity involving Pakistan has also increased. Reuters reported that Islamabad delivered a revised 14-point Iranian peace proposal to the United States as part of efforts to reduce tensions between the two sides. Iranian officials have confirmed the existence of the proposal but have not disclosed its details.

Despite signs of diplomatic engagement, major disagreements remain unresolved. The United States is reportedly open to allowing limited Iranian nuclear activities under international monitoring, while disputes continue over sanctions relief, the return of frozen Iranian assets, and long-term security guarantees. Iran, for its part, continues to insist on its right to enrich uranium.

Trump’s latest remarks suggest that Washington is prioritizing diplomacy for now while maintaining military preparedness, leaving uncertainty over whether the current pause signals a path toward de-escalation or merely a temporary break before another confrontation.
