More than 95 million people across Europe are expected to experience temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius or higher on Tuesday as a severe heatwave continues to grip the continent, according to an AFP report.

The ongoing heatwave has hit eastern and southern Europe the hardest, with weather agencies warning of prolonged high temperatures and increased health risks.

AFP estimates show that while over 130 million people were forecast to face temperatures above 35°C on Monday, the number has slightly dropped on Tuesday. However, the situation remains alarming as millions continue to endure extreme heat.

Forecasts suggest that nearly two out of every five people in Europe, excluding Türkiye, will face temperatures exceeding 30°C today.

After sweeping across western Europe last week and breaking several seasonal records, the heatwave is now shifting eastward, intensifying conditions in many parts of the continent.

Meteorologists and health officials have urged residents to take precautions, as the prolonged heat raises concerns over wildfires, water shortages and heat-related illnesses.
