Bangladesh suffered another 5-0 defeat to South Korea in the Asian Champions Trophy, repeating their loss to the same opponents at the Asian Games.
The match was played on Sunday in Punjab, India, as part of the round-robin stage of the tournament. The defeat marked Bangladesh’s fourth consecutive loss under coach Peter Gerhard.
Bangladesh had also lost 5-0 to South Korea at the Asian Games. Their latest setback came after a difficult start to the tournament, including a 13-0 defeat to hosts India, a narrow 1-0 loss to Japan and a 6-1 defeat to Malaysia.
South Korea took the lead midway through the first quarter when Park Geun-woo converted a penalty corner. Son Da-yeon doubled the advantage with a field goal in the second quarter.
Bangladesh conceded two more goals in the third quarter before South Korea added a fifth in the final period to seal a comprehensive victory.
The result officially ended Bangladesh’s hopes of reaching the semifinals. They remain at the bottom of the points table and will face China in their fifth and final round-robin match on Monday.
