Actor Manoj Bajpayee is set to portray Mahatma Gandhi in an upcoming Hindi film directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sudhir Mishra. The film will focus on a lesser-known 21-day period connected to Gandhi’s role in India’s freedom struggle.
The filmmakers have yet to reveal the title or release date of the project. However, Gandhi’s first-look image, featuring Bajpayee in the iconic leader’s appearance while standing among followers at a public gathering, was recently shared on social media.
The look has drawn considerable appreciation from audiences, with many praising Bajpayee’s transformation into Gandhi.
Actor Saurabh Shukla is also part of the cast in a key role. The film is being produced by Anubhav Sinha and Narendra Hirawat.
According to the filmmakers, the project will go beyond simply recreating a historical episode. It will explore the emotions, human dimensions and inner lives of the people involved during the pivotal period.
Meanwhile, Bajpayee is also preparing for the release of ‘Last Man in Tower’, which is scheduled to hit theatres on September 11. Based on Aravind Adiga’s acclaimed novel, the film is directed by Ben Rekhi. It marks the first time Bajpayee will share the screen with Boman Irani and Divya Dutta.
