Bangladesh national cricket team completed a historic 2-0 Test series whitewash over Pakistan national cricket team after securing a 78-run victory in the second Test at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Chasing a massive target of 437 runs, Pakistan were bowled out for 358 in 97.2 overs on the fifth and final day despite a fighting 94-run knock from Mohammad Rizwan. The victory marked Bangladesh’s first-ever home Test series whitewash against Pakistan and their fourth consecutive Test win over the visitors.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and his team created history after previously defeating Pakistan 2-0 in Rawalpindi in 2024. This time, Bangladesh repeated the feat on home soil in dominant fashion.

Bangladesh gained early control of the match after Litton Das’ brilliant century in the first innings and maintained pressure throughout the Test. Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim then anchored the second innings with a crucial century to put Pakistan under enormous scoreboard pressure.

On the final morning, Pakistan resumed on 316/7 needing 121 more runs for victory. Rizwan and Sajid Khan added a valuable 54-run partnership before Taijul Islam broke through by dismissing Sajid for 28. One over later, Shoriful Islam removed Rizwan for 94, effectively ending Pakistan’s resistance.
Taijul Islam completed his sixth wicket when Khurram Shahzad was caught, sealing Bangladesh’s memorable victory and a historic clean sweep.
