WASHINGTON, April 30, 2026 — The head of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), Admiral Brad Cooper, is set to brief U.S. President Donald Trump on a range of new military options targeting Iran, according to a report by Axios cited by Reuters.

Sources familiar with the matter say the proposals include plans for a “short and powerful” strike against Iranian targets, designed to increase pressure on Tehran amid stalled negotiations over its nuclear activities.

In addition to direct military action, the options reportedly under consideration include asserting control over parts of the Strait of Hormuz—a critical global النفط transit route—and deploying special forces to secure Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

The strategy is seen as part of a broader effort by Washington to force concessions from Iran at the negotiating table, as tensions continue to escalate in the region.
The developments come amid rising global concern over energy security and stability in the Middle East, with analysts warning that any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz could significantly impact global oil markets.
