Pakistani military forces, including fighter jets and support aircraft, have arrived in Saudi Arabia as part of a bilateral defense agreement between the two nations, Saudi officials confirmed on Saturday.

According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, the Pakistani contingent landed at King Abdulaziz Air Base, a strategically significant facility that has previously been targeted by drone and missile attacks during periods of conflict involving Iran.

The ministry stated that the purpose of the deployment is to enhance joint military coordination and strengthen efforts to maintain security and stability at both regional and international levels.

This move follows a defense pact signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in September last year. Under the terms of the agreement, an attack on either country would be treated as an attack on both, reflecting a deepening of military and strategic ties.

The deployment comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, particularly surrounding Iran and its regional rivals, raising concerns about the potential for further escalation in the region.
