Israeli soldiers have given horrifying descriptions of how they killed Gazans who came to receive aid.Since February of this year, the occupying Israeli forces, with the help of the United States, began distributing aid to ordinary Gazans through a new organization called the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,” excluding established international agencies. However, this controversial organization failed from the start. Whenever people came to collect aid, they were killed. According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, so far nearly 500 people have been killed and four thousand injured while trying to receive aid.Several Israeli soldiers have given terrifying accounts of how these people were killed brutally, mercilessly, and without any reason. Speaking to Israeli media outlet Haaretz, they stated these killings were entirely unnecessary. None of those who came to receive aid posed any threat to the Israeli soldiers. One soldier, speaking on condition of anonymity, said:“This is a killing field. Where I was stationed, at least one to five people were killed every day. These Gazans were treated as enemy forces. No crowd control measures like tear gas were used; instead, they were directly shot. Heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, and cannons were used to fire at them.”He added:“When we stopped firing, people realized they could move towards the aid center. Our only means of communication with them was shooting.”He continued:“If someone tried to line up for aid in the early morning, which was several hundred meters from our position, sometimes we would shoot at them from close range. But none of them posed any risk to our soldiers. I have never heard of anyone among those who came for aid firing a shot. There were no enemies there. There were no weapons.”Another soldier said:“Firing shells from cannons to keep hungry people away is neither professional nor humanitarian. I know some Hamas fighters were near the aid centers, but there were also people who were only there to collect aid.”He said further:“It has become a place where its own law prevails. Deaths mean nothing there. These killings are not even mentioned as unfortunate incidents.”Meanwhile, when contacted about these incidents, the Israeli Defense Forces neither denied nor confirmed them. However, Israel’s independent military investigative body, the Military Advocate General’s Office, has said it will investigate these incidents as war crimes committed by Israeli soldiers against unarmed civilians coming to the aid centers.
