Chelsea Hit Seven as Arsenal Crash Out of FA Cup

Southampton stun Arsenal to reach semifinals, while Chelsea deliver a dominant seven-goal performance in another tie.

Arsenal’s hopes of securing multiple trophies this season suffered a major setback as they were knocked out of the FA Cup quarterfinals, losing 2-1 to Southampton. The defeat came shortly after their loss to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final, effectively ending their domestic cup ambitions.

Despite entering the match as favorites, Arsenal struggled to maintain control at St. Mary’s Stadium. Southampton took the lead through Ross Stewart, before Viktor Gyökeres equalized for the visitors. However, substitute Shea Charles scored the decisive goal just nine minutes after coming on, sending Southampton into the semifinals.

The Championship side’s victory marks a significant upset, keeping alive their hopes of repeating their historic FA Cup triumph of 1976. Meanwhile, Arsenal—currently leading the Premier League table by nine points—now shift their full focus to securing the league title after back-to-back cup disappointments.

In another quarterfinal clash, Chelsea delivered a ruthless attacking display, scoring seven goals to secure a commanding win. Jorrel Hato opened the scoring early, followed by João Pedro to make it 2-0. An own goal further extended Chelsea’s lead before second-half strikes from Tosin Adarabioyo, Andrey Santos, Estevão, and Alejandro Garnacho completed the rout.
Chelsea’s emphatic victory underlines their attacking strength as they advance confidently to the next stage, while Arsenal are left to regroup after a disappointing end to their cup campaigns.
