A drone attack targeted a major oil sector complex in Kuwait early Sunday morning, triggering a fire and causing significant infrastructure damage, according to state media reports.
The strike hit the Shuwaikh oil sector complex, which houses facilities of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation as well as offices of the Ministry of Oil. Authorities confirmed that the fire broke out following the attack but is currently being brought under control by emergency responders.
Despite the scale of the incident, officials reported no casualties.
In a separate statement, Kuwait’s Ministry of Finance indicated that Iranian drones were responsible for the strike, targeting government ministry buildings within the complex and causing extensive structural damage.
The attack comes amid rising regional tensions following joint military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28. In retaliation, Tehran has launched a series of attacks on U.S. military assets across Gulf nations.
Kuwait, along with Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, has seen repeated strikes in recent days. Just two days ago, a water treatment plant and a power station in Kuwait were also targeted, sustaining notable damage.
Sunday’s attack on the oil complex marks a further escalation in the ongoing conflict, raising concerns about regional security and global energy stability.
