US President Donald Trump has said he trusts no one in politics, responding to a question about whether he trusts Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Honestly, I don’t trust anybody. I don’t trust anybody in the world of politics,” Trump told right-wing US media outlet Newsmax in an interview, according to The Times of Israel.
Trump has recently faced repeated questions about whether he would endorse Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s October 27 election. He has yet to make his position clear, while Netanyahu has long highlighted his close relationship with the US president during his election campaign.
In the Newsmax interview, Trump said Israeli officials wanted him to become involved in Netanyahu’s re-election campaign.
Asked whether he planned to take part, Trump replied, “Yes, they want me to get involved. They want me to get involved.”
Despite his remarks about trust in politics, Trump spoke positively about his relationship with Netanyahu, describing it as “very good.”
He also praised what he called a highly successful military partnership between the United States and
Israel against Iran.
