German Tourist Stranded in Bangladesh After Bag Goes Missing at Natore Railway Station

- October 08, 2026, 10:09 AM ET

NATORE — An 18-year-old German tourist visiting Bangladesh to explore the country’s historical sites was left distressed after his bag containing a laptop, camera and other personal belongings went missing at Natore Railway Station.

The tourist, identified as Kirill, said he arrived at Natore by train from Bogura at around 4pm on Wednesday. He left his bag in the station’s waiting room before going to an ATM to withdraw money.
According to Kirill, before leaving, he handed his belongings to a man wearing a vest whom he believed to be a railway official. The man assured him that he would look after the luggage.

When Kirill returned after withdrawing cash, however, both the man and his belongings were gone. He said he searched for the bag but could not locate it.

Kirill later discovered that the location of his laptop, tracked through iCloud, showed an area in Naogaon at around 6:40pm, raising hopes that the stolen belongings could be recovered.

After reporting the incident to railway authorities, Kirill was directed to Natore Sadar Police Station. He remained there for an extended period while waiting for assistance and was seen breaking down in tears.

Natore Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Munsur Ahmed said the incident primarily falls under the jurisdiction of railway police. However, he said authorities were treating the case with the utmost importance because the victim is a foreign national.

Police have already identified the location of the stolen device and dispatched a team there, the officer said.

“We hope to recover Kirill’s laptop, camera and other belongings soon,” Ahmed said.
