Popular Tollywood filmmaker Srijit Mukherji has once again sparked speculation about his marriage to Bangladeshi actress Rafiath Rashid Mithila after speaking openly about loneliness and the absence of a stable partner in his life.
Appearing recently on the West Bengal talk show Straight Up with Shree, Srijit discussed his past relationships, his friendships with former partners and his personal life.
Asked about his current relationship status, the filmmaker reportedly said that at this stage of his life, he feels the absence of a “stable partnership”.
Srijit and Mithila have been married for around six years. Their relationship has repeatedly attracted media attention, with rumours of a possible separation surfacing several times over the past three years. Although Mithila was not directly mentioned during the interview, Srijit’s remarks about not having a stable partner have once again fuelled speculation that their relationship may have ended.
However, neither Srijit nor Mithila has publicly confirmed a divorce in the report.
During the conversation, Srijit also spoke about his relationships with former partners, including Swastika Mukherjee and Ritabhari Chakraborty, saying that despite their breakups, they remain on friendly terms.
He was also asked about Susmita Chatterjee, who was once very close to him. When asked whether they had been romantically involved, Srijit said that not every relationship needs a label.
“She was very close to me. We were extremely close. But with time, that closeness faded. We are not as close anymore, though we remain well-wishers of each other,” he said.
Reflecting on how relationships change over time, Srijit added that life is like a journey, with some people getting off the train after a few stations and perhaps boarding another train.
His comments have since prompted renewed discussion among fans about the status of his marriage to Mithila, though the couple’s current legal or marital status remains unconfirmed based on the report.
