Jubo Mohila League Organiser Allegedly Assaulted at Home in Mirpur

A woman identified as Rita Rani, an organiser of the Jubo Mohila League in Dhaka’s Mirpur, was allegedly assaulted at her home by a group of individuals led by Firoz, who is identified in a social media post as the convener of Mirpur Thana Jubo Dal.

According to the post, the group entered her residence and subjected her to physical and sexual abuse. The allegations have not been independently verified.

The post further alleges that when contacted about the incident, the officer-in-charge (OC) of the relevant police station made an inappropriate remark, suggesting that Rani’s beauty had become a liability for her.

It also claims that the police officer advised the Hindu woman to wear a burqa, prompting concerns over the alleged response of law enforcement to the incident.

The allegations have renewed questions about women’s safety, police accountability and the treatment of individuals associated with the Awami League.
