Jet Fuel Prices Rise Again in Bangladesh

- October 10, 2026, 03:20 AM ET

DHAKA — The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has raised jet fuel prices again for October, increasing the cost for both domestic and international flights.

For domestic flights, the price of jet fuel has been raised from Tk 165.65 to Tk 182.71 per litre, an increase of Tk 17.06 from September.

For international flights, the price has increased from $1.0770 to $1.1882 per litre, representing a rise of $0.1112.

The new prices will take effect from midnight Wednesday, according to a BERC press release issued on Wednesday.

Jet fuel prices for domestic flights stood at Tk 159.52 per litre in August. Compared with that rate, the October price represents an increase of Tk 23.19 per litre over two months.

For international flights, the August price was $1.0358 per litre. The October rate is therefore $0.1524 higher than the price two months earlier.

BERC said the October prices were determined after considering the average published Platts Jet A-1 rates in the international market from September 5 to October 4, the US dollar exchange rate used by Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) for letter-of-credit settlements, and other relevant factors.

The latest increase is expected to add to operating costs for airlines, potentially putting further pressure on airfares if higher fuel costs are passed on to passengers.
