The United States has issued an advisory to foreign nationals currently in the country, warning thatoverstaying an authorised period of stay or violating the conditions of a visa could result in a permanent ban on future travel to the United States.
The US Embassy in Dhaka issued the warning in a visa-related post on its verified Facebook page on Saturday, September 26.
The embassy stressed that holding a US visa does not guarantee entry into the country. The duration and conditions of a traveller’s stay are determined by the immigration officer at the port of entry.
“Your US visa does not guarantee entry into the United States,” the embassy said, according to the post.
It added that travellers are responsible for using their visas in accordance with the applicable rules.
The embassy warned that staying in the United States beyond the period authorised by immigration authorities could have serious consequences.
It also cautioned that engaging in activities not permitted under the category of visa held by an individual could affect their ability to travel to the United States in the future.
The advisory urged visa holders to comply strictly with the terms of their admission and visa status to avoid potential immigration consequences.
