Beirut — A ceasefire understanding has been reached in Lebanon involving Hezbollah, following days of escalating tensions along the southern border.
Lebanese officials said the agreement aims to restore calm and avoid further military confrontation that could drag the country deeper into regional instability. Hezbollah also signaled its commitment to the truce, while warning that it remains prepared to respond to any future aggression.
The ceasefire follows international diplomatic efforts and mediation by regional actors, who have pushed for immediate de-escalation amid fears that the conflict could expand beyond Lebanon’s borders.
Residents in southern Lebanon have welcomed the temporary calm, although uncertainty remains over how long the truce will hold. Analysts say the durability of the ceasefire will depend on broader developments in the region and the willingness of all parties to maintain restraint.
The international community has urged both sides to respect the agreement and continue dialogue to prevent renewed violence.
