Youth Wing Holds Rally in Front of Ganabhaban Marking Awami League Anniversary

Jubo League activists staged a procession near the former prime minister’s residence, but no arrests were reported.

Members of the Bangladesh Awami League’s youth wing, Jubo League, held a protest march in front of Ganabhaban in Dhaka on Thursday to mark the founding anniversary of the ruling party.

According to eyewitnesses, the rally began shortly after 11:00 am from in front of Residential College and moved through nearby roads before ending near the main gate of Ganabhaban, the official residence of the prime minister.

An eyewitness, Zakir Hossain, told local media that the procession passed through the area without major confrontation.

Initially, Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mesbah Uddin said the incident did not fall under his jurisdiction, suggesting it took place in the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station area.

Later in the evening, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police confirmed after reviewing video footage that the march had indeed taken place within their jurisdiction. Police said no one had been detained in connection with the rally.

The demonstration comes amid heightened political activity surrounding the anniversary of the Awami League, as party affiliates continue organizing public programs across the capital.
