WASHINGTON, D.C., May 30, 2026 — U.S. President Donald Trump is in “excellent health” and remains fully capable of carrying out his duties as commander-in-chief, according to a medical report released by the White House following a comprehensive health examination.
The assessment came after Trump underwent a series of medical tests at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center earlier this week. The evaluation included CT scans, cardiac imaging, cancer screenings, and other preventive health assessments conducted by a team of 22 medical specialists.
White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella stated that the 79-year-old president demonstrated strong physical and cognitive health. Trump later told reporters that the three-hour examination went “perfectly.”
According to the report, Trump currently weighs 108 kilograms (238 pounds), approximately 6 kilograms more than during his previous examination in April 2025. Physicians advised him to continue focusing on diet, physical activity, and weight management. However, they concluded that his overall physical and mental condition remains very good.
Standing 6 feet 3 inches tall, Trump has a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 29.7, just below the clinical threshold for obesity, which begins at a BMI of 30.
The report also addressed bruising and minor marks observed on the president’s hands. Physicians attributed these to frequent handshakes and described them as a mild and common side effect of low-dose aspirin therapy, which Trump continues to use as part of his medical regimen.
Doctors further noted that Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a relatively common condition among older adults that can cause blood pooling in the lower legs. While slight swelling was observed, the report said the condition has improved compared with last year.
Medical specialists found Trump’s cardiac, pulmonary, and neurological functions to be normal. Dr. Barbabella wrote that the president’s demanding daily schedule—including high-level meetings, public engagements, and regular physical activity—has contributed positively to maintaining his overall health.
The report also highlighted Trump’s performance on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), a widely used screening tool for cognitive impairment and dementia. He received a perfect score of 30 out of 30, matching the results of similar tests conducted in 2018 and the previous year.
The latest medical evaluation is likely to draw significant public attention as Trump continues to serve as one of the oldest presidents in U.S. history, with questions about age and fitness remaining a prominent issue in American politics.
