US President Donald Trump has once again issued a stern warning to Iran, saying Tehran must reach a diplomatic agreement with Washington or face “complete destruction.”
In an interview with a US broadcaster, Trump said Iran had recently moved some of its military assets, including missiles stored underground, amid growing regional tensions.
“They will either make a deal, or they will be wiped out,” Trump said, according to reports cited by Al Jazeera.
Referring to Iran’s underground missile facilities, the US president claimed that any military strike against the country would eliminate those capabilities within a day.
“They brought some missiles out from underground. If there is an attack, those weapons will not survive for long,” he said.
Trump also offered a mixed assessment of Iran’s current leadership, suggesting that the country’s diplomatic approach had become “more rational” compared with previous administrations.
“I think in many ways they are acting much more reasonably now,” he said, while describing the new Iranian officials as “smarter” than some former senior figures who are no longer in office.
When asked about the issue of removing enriched uranium from Iranian territory, Trump downplayed its strategic importance, saying the matter was more related to public relations than security concerns.
“I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary, but from a public relations standpoint, it matters,” he said,
adding jokingly that “the fake news media” wanted the material to be recovered.
The remarks come amid renewed uncertainty over the future of US-Iran relations and concerns about escalating tensions in the Middle East.
