Buenos Aires, April 24 — Argentina has reiterated its willingness to resume bilateral negotiations with the United Kingdom over the disputed Falkland Islands, known in Argentina as the Malvinas.
The statement came from Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno following remarks linked to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Argentina emphasized the need for a peaceful and definitive solution to what it described as a “colonial situation” surrounding the islands.
The renewed call for dialogue also follows reports of an internal U.S. discussion suggesting a possible review of its stance on the Falklands, amid broader geopolitical tensions tied to the Iran conflict.
Argentina has long claimed sovereignty over the islands, while Britain maintains control and insists that the wishes of the islanders—who largely identify as British—must be respected.
