Dhaka, Bangladesh — April 25, 2026:

Authorities across Bangladesh have intensified security measures following intelligence warnings of a potential plot to carry out attacks on key national installations and public venues.
According to a directive issued by Police Headquarters, all units—including Range Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Metropolitan Police Commissioners, and District Superintendents—have been instructed to strengthen vigilance and reinforce security at sensitive locations nationwide.

The alert follows the arrest of a suspected member of a banned extremist group, identified as Ishtiaq Ahmed Sami, also known by the aliases Abu Bakkar and Abu Mohammad. Intelligence sources indicate that he maintained regular contact with two dismissed members of a security force, raising concerns about coordinated subversive activities.

Potential targets mentioned in intelligence reports include the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, law enforcement facilities and personnel, places of worship, entertainment centers, and densely populated urban areas such as Shahbagh.

Authorities have also warned that the group may be planning attacks on armories belonging to different security forces, which could pose a serious threat if weapons are targeted.
Law enforcement officials have described the individuals involved as high-risk threats to national security. In response, intelligence surveillance has been intensified, and operations are ongoing to identify and detain other suspects linked to the network.

Officials emphasized that all relevant agencies have been instructed to remain on high alert, enhance monitoring systems, and take immediate legal action against any suspicious activities to prevent potential acts of sabotage.
