The Bangladesh Awami League has issued a 12-point demand outlining its position on the current political and economic situation, calling for justice, restoration of democratic rights, and immediate steps to stabilize the economy.

In its statement, the party demanded the withdrawal of all cases against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, including those filed in international tribunals, and called for the unconditional release of all detained political leaders, activists, journalists, cultural figures, and professionals. It also urged authorities to withdraw what it described as false and politically motivated cases filed against citizens across different sectors.

The Awami League further demanded the immediate release of all detained national and grassroots-level leaders and activists, along with the withdrawal of related cases.

Another key demand included restoring security protections for the family members of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reversing previous decisions that removed such safeguards.

The party also called for lifting restrictions on its political activities, alleging that bans, repression, and administrative obstacles imposed on its leaders and activists must be immediately removed.

On economic issues, the statement emphasized the need to control the rising prices of essential commodities such as rice, lentils, cooking oil, salt, sugar, garlic, and onions, ensuring they remain affordable for the general public. It also demanded fair pricing and sufficient supply of agricultural inputs, including irrigation support, diesel, electricity, fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides.

The Awami League stressed the importance of ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply across the country.

In the education sector, the party called for restoring a safe and natural learning environment and ensuring the safety of students and teachers. It alleged that dismissals of teachers and staff and cancellation of student registrations had taken place under administrative pressure, demanding reinstatement and restoration of their rights.

To address unemployment, the party urged the creation of job opportunities for educated youth, reopening of closed factories, and payment of outstanding wages to workers.

The statement also highlighted the need to end repression and discrimination against minorities and marginalized communities, ensuring their full rights to practice their religion, culture, and social identity.

Additionally, the party demanded reinstatement of dismissed employees in sectors such as the judiciary, administration, police, and autonomous institutions, along with the payment of pending salaries and withdrawal of cases against them.

In its final point, the Awami League called for accountability over reported border killings, blaming administrative failures and negligence, and demanded impartial investigations and justice.

Concluding the statement, the party urged citizens to unite in support of democracy, justice, and human rights, expressing its commitment to building a prosperous, humane, and democratic Bangladesh.
