Washington, April 4, 2026 — Donald Trump has issued a renewed and stern warning to Iran, demanding that it reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz within the next 48 hours or face “severe consequences.”
In a post shared from the White House on Saturday morning, Trump reminded Tehran of the earlier 10-day ultimatum given by his administration. “Remember, I gave Iran 10 days to make a deal or reopen the Strait of Hormuz,” he wrote, adding, “Only 48 hours remain. Then all hell will break loose. God bless!”
The ultimatum, which expires on April 6, underscores growing tensions between Washington and Tehran over control of the critical maritime route, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil supply passes.
No Comment on Downed Warplane Incident
Despite escalating rhetoric, the Trump administration has yet to officially comment on reports that a U.S. warplane was recently shot down in Iranian territory—an incident that has further intensified regional uncertainty.
Rising Stakes in a Strategic Waterway
The Strait of Hormuz remains a geopolitical flashpoint, with any disruption posing serious implications for global energy markets and regional stability. Analysts warn that failure to resolve the standoff diplomatically could trigger wider military confrontation in the Middle East.
