Six people have been killed after a helicopter crashed in the waters off the coast of Qatar in the Persian Gulf, authorities confirmed on Saturday.
According to separate statements from the country’s Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defence, the crash occurred within Qatar’s territorial waters and was likely caused by a technical malfunction.
Among those killed were three members of Qatar’s armed forces and three Turkish nationals. Officials said the Turkish victims included one military officer and two civilians.
The Ministry of Defence also reported that one member of the Qatar Air Force remains missing. Search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the individual.
Earlier, the Interior Ministry had confirmed the incident but did not disclose details about the victims. Additional information was later provided by defence authorities.
