US President Donald J. Trump has sparked fresh controversy after posting a Christmas message that combined holiday greetings with harsh political attacks and sweeping claims about the country’s economic and security performance.
In a post shared on his social media account on Christmas Day, Trump wished “Merry
Christmas to all,” but quickly turned to criticism, accusing what he described as the “radical left” of trying—and failing—to destroy the country. The message included strong language and reiterated several political positions central to Trump’s platform.
Trump claimed that the US no longer has open borders, weak law enforcement, or policies allowing transgender participation in women’s sports. He also asserted that the country is experiencing record stock market performance, strong retirement savings, historically low crime rates, and no inflation.
The president further pointed to recent economic data, citing a 4.3 percent GDP growth figure that he said exceeded expectations, and argued that tariffs have generated trillions of dollars in growth and prosperity. He concluded by claiming the US now enjoys its strongest national security ever and has regained global respect.
Critics have pushed back against both the tone and the accuracy of Trump’s claims, arguing that the message deepens political divisions during a traditionally unifying holiday. Supporters, however, praised the post as a strong defense of conservative values and national policy priorities.
The message once again highlights Trump’s use of major holidays as platforms for political messaging, reinforcing his highly polarizing role in American politics.
