Explosion in Pakistan Court Premises, 8 Injured

Blast near Islamabad district court entrance leaves several critically wounded, investigation underway

At least eight people have been injured in an explosion inside a court compound in Pakistan. The blast occurred on Tuesday (11 November) in the country’s capital, Islamabad, according to a spokesperson of the local police, as reported by Reuters.

The official said that several of the injured are in critical condition. However, he noted that it will take more time to determine the nature of the explosive and gather further details.

Footage aired on local media showed that the explosion took place near the entrance gate of the Islamabad District Court, a spot that usually sees heavy public movement.

The video shows a bloodied, lifeless body lying near a police van after the blast. Reuters, however, has not been able to independently verify the authenticity of the footage.

“We are investigating to understand the type of explosive used,” the police official said. “Things are not yet fully clear to us. We will know more after the forensic report.”
