Awami League President and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has strongly condemned the horrific terrorist attack in India’s capital, New Delhi, which claimed the lives of innocent civilians. In a statement issued today, she expressed profound shock and sorrow at the brutality of the incident, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wishing a swift recovery for the injured.
“The horrific militant attack in India’s capital cannot be tolerated in any way,” the Prime Minister said. “There is no place for extremist terrorism in the modern world.” She noted that such terrorist groups aim to destroy the very foundations of secular, humanitarian, and welfare-oriented state systems.
Holding Pakistan-based militant networks responsible for the attack, she stated, “These terrorist groups have fundamentally disrupted Bangladesh’s state structure. These Pakistan-based outfits are expanding networks across Bangladesh and other countries to carry out attacks in India, in an attempt to destabilize peace and stability in the region.” She called for united efforts to defeat these forces and uphold peace in South Asia.
Reaffirming her support for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance against terrorism, Sheikh Hasina said, “The Bangladesh Awami League fully supports the Indian Prime Minister in this ideological fight against terrorism.”
The Prime Minister reiterated her government’s “zero tolerance” policy towards terrorism, saying, “No matter where the roots of terrorism lie, it must be eradicated completely.” She described those who harbor or support terrorist groups in Bangladesh or elsewhere as “enemies of humanity” and expressed strong disdain toward them.
Finally, Sheikh Hasina affirmed Bangladesh’s solidarity with the people and government of India: “We stand beside the people of India and express our commitment to extend full cooperation in this fight against terrorism.” She expressed hope that defeating such terrorist groups would help uphold justice and human rights worldwide, making the world a safer place.
