Almost 100,000 palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza: Haaretz report

Nearly 100,000 Palestinians have been killed so far in Israeli aggression on Gaza. This figure represents about 4% of the total population of the enclave. This information was reported on Friday in an article by Israel’s Haaretz newspaper. However, Gaza’s Hamas-controlled health ministry says that more than 56,300 people have been killed since Israeli attacks began on October 7, 2023.Haaretz states that, in addition to those directly killed by Israeli bombings, many have died due to indirect causes, such as starvation, exposure to cold, and disease. The war has almost completely collapsed Gaza’s healthcare system. The report cites research by Professor Michael Spagat, an internationally recognized researcher on deaths in violent conflicts and an economist at Royal Holloway, University of London. The newspaper notes that Israeli spokespeople, journalists, and influential social media figures usually express disdain for Gaza’s health ministry’s death toll figures, dismissing them as exaggerated. However, an increasing number of international experts believe these figures are not only reliable but possibly conservative compared to the actual situation. The research surveyed 2,000 families, covering nearly 10,000 people in Gaza. Based on this, it was found that by January 2025, around 75,200 violent deaths had occurred in Gaza, most of them resulting from Israeli attacks.According to the survey, 56% of those killed were women and children under 18 years old.
