Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, 41, of New Orleans, was arrested Thursday by Louisiana State Police for allegedly disrupting the Super Bowl LIX halftime show with a protest flag reading “Sudan and Free Gaza.”The incident took place on February 9 during Kendrick Lamar’s performance at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Police said Nantambu, who was authorized to be on the field as a performer, deviated from his assigned role, retrieved the flag, and ran across the field, interrupting the show.Security and law enforcement intervened after Nantambu refused commands to stop. Performers were permitted on the field but were prohibited from displaying unauthorized flags or signs.An arrest warrant was later issued through the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court. Nantambu surrendered himself on Thursday with his attorney present. He faces charges of resisting an officer and disturbing the peace by interrupting a lawful assembly.
