Zelensky Criticizes US ‘Silence’ After Russia Launches Record Air Assault on Ukraine

Date:

The Voice News:Russia launched its largest aerial attack in three years of war against Ukraine overnight, targeting Kyiv and multiple other regions with a barrage of missiles and drones. At least 12 people, including children, were killed and dozens injured, prompting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to criticize the US for its inaction.

Three of the victims were children from one family in the Zhytomyr region, with their mother in critical condition. Zelensky called the attacks “terrorism” and urged the international community to impose new sanctions on Russia, warning that “America’s silence” only emboldens Putin.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 367 aerial weapons — 69 missiles and 298 drones — were launched overnight across 22 locations, with 47 missiles and 266 drones intercepted.

US President Donald Trump later expressed frustration, stating, “He’s killing a lot of people… I don’t know what the hell happened to Putin.” However, Trump reiterated he would not currently support new sanctions against Russia, hoping negotiations might still lead to peace.

This unprecedented attack followed a significant prisoner swap between the two countries, with over 1,000 Russian and Ukrainian prisoners exchanged in total. Despite this rare cooperation, Russia’s renewed aggression has deepened concerns about the prospects for peace.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described the assault as “the most massive” in weeks, with sirens and explosions keeping Kyiv residents in shelters overnight.

Meanwhile, Russia claimed it was also targeted by about 100 Ukrainian drones, mostly in its central and southern regions. The Russian defense ministry reported several interceptions and minor injuries.

Zelensky continues to call for firm international pressure, stating that only strong action can stop the ongoing brutality.
