The Voice News:A 28-year-old dual U.S.-German citizen has been arrested for allegedly attempting to firebomb the U.S. Embassy branch in Tel Aviv and making threats against former President Donald Trump, federal prosecutors announced Sunday.
Joseph Neumayer was apprehended at New York’s JFK Airport by FBI agents following his deportation from Israel. Authorities say Neumayer traveled to Israel in April and approached the U.S. Embassy on May 19 carrying a backpack. He reportedly spat at a guard before fleeing the scene, leaving the backpack behind.
Security officials later discovered three Molotov cocktails inside the bag. Neumayer was located and arrested at his hotel in Tel Aviv by Israeli law enforcement.
Investigators also uncovered threatening social media posts from Neumayer, including calls for violence against Americans and the former president. One post read: “Join me as I burn down the embassy in Tel Aviv. Death to America, death to Americans, and f** the West.”*
Deported on Sunday, Neumayer now faces federal charges of attempting to destroy U.S. government property using fire or explosives, a crime that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
“This defendant is charged with planning a devastating attack targeting our embassy in Israel and threatening President Trump’s life,” said U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi. “The Department will prosecute this case to the fullest extent of the law.”
FBI Director Kash Patel described the alleged act as “despicable and violent,” emphasizing that such threats “will not be tolerated at home or abroad.”
