Ukrainian Leader Warns Against Inaction Following ‘Russian Madness’
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on world leaders to take decisive action following Russia’s launch of an experimental nuclear-capable ballistic missile at the city of Dnipro on Thursday. In his nightly address, Zelenskyy labeled the strike a “latest act of Russian madness” and urged the international community to respond with strength to deter further escalation.
“The world must respond firmly and decisively so that Putin fears expanding this war and faces real consequences for his actions,” Zelenskyy said. “True peace can only be achieved through strength — there is no other way.”
Push for Enhanced Air Defense Systems
The Ukrainian president revealed he has instructed his defense minister to engage with Western allies to secure advanced air defense systems capable of countering new missile threats. While expressing gratitude for the support received so far, Zelenskyy emphasized that “words alone are not enough – action is required.”
The strike on Dnipro, which involved a missile described as nuclear-capable by both Russian and U.S. officials, has heightened concerns about Moscow’s willingness to escalate the conflict.
Calls for Global Unity
Zelenskyy appealed for international solidarity, warning that inaction could embolden Russian President Vladimir Putin. His comments come as NATO and Ukraine prepare for emergency talks next week to address the growing threat posed by Russia’s experimental weaponry.
The missile test, which marks a significant escalation in the conflict, has drawn widespread condemnation. Zelenskyy reiterated that a united and forceful global response is necessary to prevent further provocations and ensure lasting peace.
