Yemen petrol pump explosion kills 8, injures 50

The powerful blast caused extensive damage to the petrol pump and nearby areas.

Eight people were killed and 50 others injured in an explosion at a fuel storage tank at a petrol pump in Yemen’s al-Bayda province on Saturday.

Reuters reported on Sunday, citing medical workers and local officials.

The fuel tank was located within the premises of the petrol pump in the province’s Zaher district. The powerful blast caused extensive damage to the petrol pump and nearby areas.

There were many people in the petrol pump at the time of the explosion. There was chaos after the explosion. The fire burned throughout the area.

The injured have been admitted to local hospitals. It was not immediately clear if any of them were in critical condition.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.
