Will Smith Won’t Join the Next Matrix Movie, Despite Mysterious Post!

Hope Raised, But Will Smith Won’t Join the Next Matrix Movie!
Hollywood’s beloved actor Will Smith, known for his versatile roles, recently sparked speculation about joining the upcoming Matrix movie with a mysterious Instagram post. Fans were quick to assume that the actor might be returning to the iconic sci-fi franchise.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Smith will not be part of the new Matrix project.

In his post, Smith reflected on his decision to turn down the role of Neo in the original 1999 Matrix film. The post noted, “In 1997, the Wachowskis offered Will Smith the role of Neo in The Matrix. Smith turned it down, choosing Wild Wild West instead, believing it was a better fit for him at the time. But the question remains: What would The Matrix have been like with Will Smith as Neo? Wake up, Will… The Matrix has you…”

This cryptic post led many to believe that Smith might join the upcoming Matrix film. However, sources confirmed that the actor will not be involved in the new project. The Hollywood Reporter clarified that Smith’s post was just a reflection on a past decision and had no connection to the new Matrix film.

The new Matrix movie will be directed by Drew Goddard, and production is expected to begin soon. This will be the first Matrix film not directed by a Wachowski sibling.

The original Matrix film, released in 1999, was a massive success, grossing $467 million worldwide and revolutionizing the sci-fi genre. It was followed by The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions in 2003, and The Matrix: Resurrections in 2021, which also garnered significant attention at the box office.

On the other hand, Smith’s choice to star in Wild Wild West instead of The Matrix is often seen as one of the notable missteps in his career, as the film was panned by critics and underperformed at the box office. Despite the speculation, by not joining the Matrix franchise now, Smith has made it clear that he does not view this iconic series as a significant part of his career.
