Wicked’ Sets New Global Box Office Record Ahead of Digital Release

Wicked, the highly anticipated film adaptation of the Broadway musical starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, has shattered records at the global box office, making history as the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation in U.S. box office history.

With an impressive total of $634.4 million, including $424.2 million from the U.S. and $210.2 million internationally, Wicked has surpassed Mamma Mia! to become the biggest stage musical adaptation of all time worldwide.

The film continues to impress, earning an additional $13.7 million this weekend across 81 international markets. As the theatrical run winds down, fans are eagerly anticipating the digital release of the movie. In the U.S., Wicked will be available for streaming on December 31, 2024, while U.K. fans can access it from January 3, 2025. The film is available for pre-order on Prime Video and iTunes.

Meanwhile, Wicked: Part Two has received a new title, Wicked: For Good, and is set for release on November 21, 2025. This sequel will feature the return of key characters such as Elphaba, Glinda, Fiyero, Madame Morrible, and The Wizard.
