Wicked Finally Confirms Streaming Release Date with Sing-Along Version

The much-anticipated musical adaptation of Wicked is set to arrive on streaming platforms, bringing excitement to fans eager to relive the magic. The Oscar-nominated film, directed by Jon M Chu, will officially debut on Peacock on March 21, but there is a catch. Since Peacock is only available in the US and select territories, international audiences will have to wait for further announcements regarding its availability.

In the UK, Wicked is scheduled to be added to Sky Cinema, though an exact release date has yet to be confirmed. Meanwhile, the film remains accessible for purchase or rental on Prime Video and is available in physical formats, including DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K, through Amazon.

Fans in the US will get additional exclusive content on Peacock, including a sing-along version of the movie for those who couldn’t resist joining in during theatrical screenings. The streaming release will also feature an NBC special, Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of the film. Another exclusive, Making Wicked, provides an in-depth look at the production process. Additional content includes two featurettes, podcast episodes featuring discussions with director Jon M Chu and cinematographer Alice Brooks, and several deleted and extended scenes.

With Wicked: For Good set to hit cinemas in November 2025, speculation is growing over the casting of Dorothy Gale in the sequel. Rumors have suggested that Abigail star Alisha Weir could be taking on the role. Addressing the speculation at the Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) Awards, Weir said she found the rumors surprising and exciting, stating, “When I saw the rumor, I thought this is absolutely crazy, and it went so crazy on social media and everyone was asking me. I mean, that would be wonderful.”

With Wicked soon arriving on streaming and the highly anticipated sequel on the way, fans of the beloved musical have much to look forward to.
