A US warship has come under attack four times within 72 hours. Yemen’s Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for these attacks, according to a report by Al Jazeera on Wednesday, March 19.
The Houthis stated that they launched another attack on US warships stationed in the Red Sea. This marks their fourth assault within three days. According to the Houthi fighters, they targeted the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman and other vessels using cruise missiles and drones.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree confirmed the use of these weapons, stating that the attack was a response to US military operations in Yemen. He claimed the mission was successful and emphasized that US aggression would not deter Yemen’s unwavering support for Palestine.
Saree warned that Houthi attacks would escalate unless Israel halts its offensive and blockade on Gaza.
Earlier, the Houthis launched a missile toward Israel, marking the first such attack since the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel in January. This missile strike followed an unexpected Israeli attack on Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of over 400 Palestinians, including many women and children, effectively breaking the ceasefire.
Israel claimed to have intercepted the Houthi missile before it reached its territory. Meanwhile, local Yemeni media reported that recent US airstrikes targeted multiple regions in Yemen, particularly the Saada and Hodeidah areas.
