The United States of America emphasizes the importance of upholding human rights of the people of Bangladesh. Matthew Miller, the Spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, reiterated this stance during a regular press briefing in Washington, D.C., in response to a journalist’s query.

In the briefing, Matthew Miller was asked: “Do you have any information about the claim made by Asif Mahmud, Adviser to the Interim Government of Bangladesh, regarding an arms revolution? Moreover, the source of these arms is said to impact the stability of the region. Do you have any concerns regarding this matter?l

I haven’t seen the speech at all. I wouldn’t want to any comments on iy replied by Mathew Miller.

In another question, the journalist said to Matthew Miller, How does the United States view the increasing incident of assault on legal counsel within court premises across Bangladesh, including the recent attack on the defense lawyer of a senior leader, Amir Hossain Amu? What is the U.S. position on the broader implication of human rights, legal protection, and the rule of law in Bangladesh?

Mathew miller told, our position with respect to human rights in Bangladesh is the same under this government as it was under the previous government, is that we want to see the human rights of the Bangladeshi people upheld, full stop.

There are report that the interim governments in Bangladesh is considering removing secularism from their constitution, which could significantly impact the country’s democratic framework and minority rights. So what is your comment on that? I just don’t have a comment on that replied by The spokesperson of US State department.
