US Urges Restraint Amid India-Pakistan Tensions
Washington DC [US], May 9 (ANI): Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated that Secretary of State Marco Rubio is focusing on preventing further escalation.
Bruce emphasized that the US has been actively engaging with both nations to broker peace, highlighting the importance of communication. She noted that recent events, including a terrorist attack, have been deeply disappointing, reinforcing the need for dialogue between the two countries.
The US supports Pakistan’s request for an independent investigation into the attack and urges both nations to seek a responsible solution. Bruce reiterated America’s commitment to maintaining diplomatic discussions at multiple levels.
Regarding concerns about terrorism, Bruce reaffirmed the US stance on cross-border terrorism, emphasizing global rejection of violence.
Secretary of State Rubio has personally reached out to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, urging restraint and encouraging direct communication to prevent further escalation.
