US Congress officially recognizes Trump’s victory

Harris, the Democratic nominee, lost the presidential election to Trump. The US Congress recognized Trump’s victory under Harris’ presidency.

The US Congress has officially recognized the victory of Republican President-elect Donald Trump.

US Vice President Kamala Harris presided over a joint session of Congress on Monday. Harris ran as the Democratic nominee in the November presidential election and lost to Trump. The US Congress recognized Trump’s victory under Harris’ presidency.

The Congressional quadrennial ceremony paves the way for Trump’s inauguration as President of the United States after two weeks.

“Today is definitely a very important day,” Harris told reporters at the U.S. Capitol. Today is a day about what ideals should be and about the American people’s ability to accept. The peaceful transfer of power is one of the most important pillars of our democracy.

“I believe very strongly that American democracy is as strong as our will to fight for it. ”

Four years ago, then-Vice President Mike Pence, a Republican, presided over a ceremony to formally recognize Biden’s victory.

Senator JD Vance was also present during the ceremony. He was elected vice president. His victory was also recognized at the ceremony.

Vance stood up and greeted members of Congress as he announced the total electorium he received.

“Today, Congress recognized our great victory — a great moment in history,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Monday. May America Great Again.
The joint session of the US Congress was held in the midst of a severe snowstorm across Washington DC, the capital of the United States. The entire city was under 15 centimeters (6 inches) of snow.

In the November presidential election, Trump initially defeated Harris, who received 226 votes with 312 Electoral College votes. At this recognition ceremony, those preliminary results received the ultimate support.
