Ukraine Crisis Could Have Been Avoided If Trump Was President: Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that the “Ukraine crisis” could have been prevented if Donald Trump had been the US president at the time. He said he was ready to discuss the crisis with the new US president. Putin said this in an interview with Russian television on Friday.

Trump has long claimed that the war in Ukraine would not have happened if he had been in power. Putin spoke in Trump’s tone for the first time on Friday.

Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. “I agree with Trump that if his victory had not been snatched away in 2020, the crisis in Ukraine in 2022 might not have happened,” he said in the interview. ’
Before being elected president for the second time, Trump said he could end the war in Ukraine in one day. But after becoming president, he gave his special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, 100 days to resolve the issue.

The new U.S. administration has not yet announced a specific plan on how to bring peace to Ukraine. But Trump said this week that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told him he wanted a deal to stop the war. He also suggested that Putin find a solution.
On Thursday, Donald Trump spoke again with reporters about the war in Ukraine. He said: “I think Russia should make a deal. Maybe they want to make a deal, too. From what I’ve heard, I think Putin would like to meet with me. We will meet as soon as possible. ’

On the other hand, Putin also seems interested in meeting with Trump. He said Russia was ready for a meeting at any time.
