U.S. Rejects Arab Leaders’ Plan for Gaza Reconstruction

The United States has rejected a plan proposed by Arab leaders to reconstruct Gaza, which has been left in ruins by Israeli attacks. U.S. President Donald Trump envisions turning the area into a U.S.-owned luxury coastal “Riviera” by displacing Palestinian residents.

On Tuesday night (March 4), U.S. National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes stated that the current proposal does not consider Gaza’s real situation. He emphasized that Gaza is currently uninhabitable due to debris and unexploded ordnance, making it impossible for people to live there humanely.

President Trump remains firm in his plan to rebuild Gaza only after eliminating Hamas from the region. The U.S. is open to further discussions to bring peace and prosperity to the area.

The reconstruction plan, led by Egypt, called for Hamas to transfer power to an interim administration until a reformed Palestinian Authority (PA) could take control. Unlike Trump’s plan, the Arab proposal would allow Gaza’s nearly 2 million residents to remain there.

Arab Leaders’ $53 Billion Plan for Gaza by 2030

The Arab countries proposed a $53 billion plan to rebuild Gaza by 2030. The initial phase would focus on clearing unexploded ordnance and removing approximately 50 million tons of debris from areas damaged by Israeli bombings.

Jordanian officials said the plan would be presented to President Trump within the next few weeks. The proposal includes constructing modern shopping malls, an international conference center, and an airport within five years. Additionally, coastal resorts would be developed to attract tourists.

However, the plan acknowledges that disarming Gaza’s various armed groups would be the biggest challenge. It stresses that resolving fundamental issues and establishing a clear political process are essential for a lasting solution.
