U.S. Citizenship for $5 Million: Trump’s New Proposal

Washington, D.C. – February 25, 2025: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a major change in the country’s immigration policy. On Tuesday, he proposed a new system where foreign investors can obtain U.S. citizenship by purchasing a “Gold Card” for $5 million. This card will grant them a Green Card and eventually lead to full citizenship.

Trump predicts that up to one million of these cards could be sold. He believes this initiative will help reduce national debt by bringing in wealthy individuals who will invest, pay taxes, and create jobs in the U.S.

“We are planning to sell Gold Cards that will offer Green Card benefits and provide a pathway to American citizenship,” Trump stated. “Wealthy individuals can purchase this card, move to the U.S., contribute to the economy, and succeed.”

When asked about the timeline, Trump said the process would begin within two weeks. He also mentioned that congressional approval is not necessary. However, he did not provide clear details on how the program would be implemented.

Experts believe the new system could impact the existing EB-5 visa program, which currently allows immigrant investors to obtain Green Cards. Some speculate that the Gold Card could replace the EB-5 program entirely. Trump assured that funds from Gold Card sales would go directly to the government, helping address the country’s financial challenges.

This announcement comes amid Trump’s recent efforts to enforce strict immigration policies and economic measures, including deporting undocumented immigrants and imposing trade tariffs.
