At least two soldiers of the Indian military have been killed in an attack by pro-independence groups in India-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The soldiers lost their lives in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast carried out by separatist groups in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
On Tuesday, the Indian Army shared this information on the social media platform X. In a post on X, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed the deaths of the two soldiers in the explosion.
The Indian Army stated in the post, “White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of our brave soldiers.”
According to a report by Indian news outlet NDTV, the explosion occurred while Indian soldiers were patrolling along the Line of Control (LoC), the border that divides Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian Army added that their troops are maintaining control in the area and conducting search operations.
Earlier, on Monday, a soldier of the Indian Army was seriously injured in a gunfight near the Line of Control in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. The soldier was shot near a search checkpoint in the Kalal area of Nowshera sector in Rajouri.
He was immediately taken to a military hospital, according to Indian government officials. They stated that preliminary investigations revealed that he was fired upon from near the Line of Control at approximately 2:40 PM local time.
