Turkish TV Series Captivating Global Audiences, Now Targeting the U.S. Market

Turkish television series have made a significant impact internationally, attracting millions of viewers worldwide. Recently, OGM Pictures received recognition at a special Golden Globe event for its contributions to the industry.

The popularity and success of Turkish series are on the rise across the globe. Their unique storytelling, emotional depth, and high production quality have won the hearts of international audiences. From the Middle East to Latin America and Europe, Turkish dramas dominate streaming platforms, continuously gaining new fans.

Series like “Kuruluş: Osman” and “Las Mil y Una Noches” have become incredibly popular, enriching Turkey’s cultural exports through television.

In 2024, “Kuruluş: Osman” achieved remarkable success among Russian viewers. This historical series, based on the life of Osman I, the founder of the Ottoman Empire, has captivated audiences with its vivid portrayal of a crucial historical era and well-developed characters. Russian viewers are drawn to the emotional drama, dialogues, and the cultural richness of Turkish historical narratives.

Latin America has also warmly welcomed Turkish television, surprising both viewers and creators. The intense emotions and relatable stories resonate with Latin American audiences, who often compare Turkish dramas to their beloved telenovelas. These series are also very popular in Asian countries, including Bangladesh, where the “Magnificent Century” series has enjoyed great success over the past decade. Turkish dramas are now regularly dubbed into Bengali and aired.

Why are Turkish dramas so popular worldwide? One key reason is their perfect balance between tradition and modernity. They often present culturally rich yet globally understandable stories centered on themes like love, family, dignity, and justice. Turkish productions are also known for their high production values, featuring stunning visuals and powerful performances that challenge international dramas.

The international success of Turkish dramas cannot be denied, and production companies have worked hard to achieve this recognition. Recently, at the Golden Globe special event in London, OGM Pictures was praised for its contributions to the industry. Founder Onur Güvenatam was present at the event, where Golden Globe President Helen Hoehne and Güvenatam welcomed guests and showcased how Turkish series are carving out a space on the world stage.

Helen Hoehne described Onur Güvenatam as a pioneer of the Turkish entertainment industry. In his speech, Güvenatam mentioned that OGM Pictures is now focusing on creating English-language content to tap into the European and American markets. Next week, he will attend a gala hosted by the American Turkish Society in New York, where he plans to discuss further expanding Turkish TV series in the U.S. market.

The popularity of Turkish series has also positively impacted Turkey’s tourism industry. As viewers become interested in the stories of the historical Ottoman Empire, more tourists are eager to visit Turkey and explore the historic sites tied to this rich history.
