Tulsi Gabbard Became Head of US National Intelligence, Another Victory for Trump

The US Senate has finalized the nomination of former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence. The nomination of Tulsi, who has little experience in intelligence activities, was finalized on Wednesday. Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination is seen as the most controversial nomination of US President Donald Trump.

Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination was finalized by a vote of 52-48 in the Senate. Tulsi Gabbard will oversee the work of the country’s 18 intelligence agencies. Again, he will advise Donald Trump on intelligence. All 52 votes cast in favor of Tulsi went to Republican Party members. However, one Republican member opposed the nomination. It’s Mitch McConnell.

Tulsi Gabbard’s victory is seen as a victory for Donald Trump. Trump wanted to secure quick Senate approval of his nominees for various administrative positions.

Gabbard, 43, faced questions before being confirmed by the Senate. These questions are mainly about supporting various opponents in the United States and not having experience in the job he is going to get. There was also the question of how he would handle this huge cost of $ 100 billion with this little experience. During the four years she was at Tulsi House, she did not work in any intelligence agency or on any intelligence committee.

The post of Director of National Intelligence was created after the attacks on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. The U.S. Congress created this position. It is the most important national security chief of the U.S. government.

Emily Harding, director of the National Security and Technology Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said after Tulsi’s nomination, “The election of the Director of National Intelligence is a big deal. ’

Emily Harding said the Director of National Intelligence has the right to access all classified documents. He is also the chief intelligence adviser to the President of the United States.

Trump named Gabbard as director of national intelligence after being elected in November. His announcement sparked widespread criticism. Many expressed concern that the nomination could politicise intelligence gathering. The process of data collection may be weakened.

Among the criticisms of Tulsi Gabbard is that she is a supporter of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. She is also sympathetic to ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. She also met Bashar in 2017.
