Trump Taps RFK Jr. as Health Secretary: A Bold Move to Reform U.S. Public Health Agencies

Newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump has chosen Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the Secretary of Health. On Thursday (November 14), the new president announced this on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Kennedy Jr. had initially decided to run as an independent candidate in this presidential election, but due to several controversies, his campaign struggled to gain substantial public support. Consequently, he dropped out of the race and ultimately decided to endorse Republican candidate Donald Trump.

In his X post, Trump wrote, “For any administration in the United States, the most important issue is the safety and health of our citizens. The Department of Health and Human Services will play a significant role in protecting against harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, and food crises.”

“Kennedy will restore these agencies with a tradition of gold-standard scientific research and transparency. He will play a role in ending the prolonged pandemic and making America great and healthy again.”

Meanwhile, in a statement on Thursday, Kennedy Jr. said, “I am looking forward to working with over 80,000 employees to free these agencies from the dark clouds of corporate interference. I want to work in a way that allows government agencies to continue making Americans the healthiest people on earth once again.”

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the nephew of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy. Professionally, he is an environmental lawyer. Kennedy Jr. also competed for the Democratic Party’s nomination in the presidential election. However, most of his family members have spoken against his anti-vaccine stance and conspiracy theories and are known to support Joe Biden’s re-election.
