U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed optimism about the possibility of a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, suggesting that a deal could be reached as early as this week. However, he did not disclose any specific terms or conditions of the potential agreement.
Trump made the comments during the annual Easter Egg Roll event at the White House on Monday, in response to a reporter’s question. “I think there’s a good chance that Moscow and Kyiv will reach an understanding this week,” he said. “We’ve had some great meetings regarding both Ukraine and Russia.”
The Russia-Ukraine war began in February 2022 following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The conflict has continued for over three years, resulting in thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions.
Trump’s remarks come amid renewed diplomatic efforts to bring an end to the war, though no official statements have been made by the Russian or Ukrainian governments regarding any imminent agreement.
